All about your weekend retreat

Your course

Whether you would like to develop your skills in drawing with watercolour, or venture into the world of using soft pastels or charcoal to create your original art works, here is the ideal weekend course. If you are a beginner or improver you will cover basic skills and techniques along with short talks and demonstrations. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to put all these ideas into practice, and benefit from individual tuition.

Watercolour can be combined very well with pastels. It is possible and very satisfying to “rescue” a failing watercolour with pastels. Also a pastels or charcoal drawing can be added to with watercolour. Therefore making this course perfect for beginners. And if you have always wanted to draw and paint, but are not sure where to begin, or if you have started with pastels and want to go further, this is the course for you.

Discover the charm and freshness of pastels, their purity of colour and their immediate response when applied to paper. Explore and enjoy the fascinating medium of pastels, while you learn how to blend colours on the paper, and unearth the inherent qualities when pastels are applied to both painting and drawing.

Charcoal allows you to draw and adjust your drawing at the speed you perceive the world around you. This course is designed for those wishing to learn the skills and explore the exciting medium of charcoal – both as a means of deciphering an unfamiliar subject and as a way of making sketches.

Just home from an amazing residential course with the talented Cas Holmes. Everything was so easy, from booking, the meet and greet, information packs and support whilst away. The hotel was perfect and Liza Jones did a brilliant job keeping everything running smoothly. I am already researching my next course.
